What's New is at the bottom of the page.
OK, I know it's been a long time since there have been any updates here. I got this stupid idea that I would completely update the site all at once! Add all sorts of new pages. And artwork. Learn Java, JavaScript, HTML, Windows programming and how to spell.
I can admit now that I was wrong. Because I'm Saint Paul the Procrastinator.

So I'm going to upgrade it a little at a time. There may be links that don't go anywhere. There will be unfinished artwork. It won't be checked on every browser, and sometimes it won't even be checked on Internet Explorer because IE doesn't seem to notice that an update has taken place. Too Bad! It's either that or there will never be an update again.
Check back here for update messages. I'll try to remember to change the date on the intro page when changes are made, and give an idea of what changed on this page. At least I'll do it a couple of times, and then you may be on your own.
A lot of the new stuff is just getting started. The Carnivore Club will have better links and graphics, and there are lots of possibilities for Dr. Quim. Neither of them should even be here yet, but I had to put something new up, didn't I?
Updates to the Carnivore Club. Just some graphics, and your favorite relative, Uncle Meat.
What a pain! The new server is case sensitive, so some images were lost, and some pages no longer linked. I think it's working now. The new browsers are out, so it must be time for an update soon. But not now.
I got sick of waiting for the counter to load, so it's been moved to the bottom of the page. Hopefully most of the page will load faster now.
I waste the most time on pages with lots of links to weird places. So I made a page of them, too. Some of these I've wanted to post for a while, so there might be some dead ones. Let me know if there are any.
A new intro page at last. The site was moved from VCNet to gte.
Everything has been redone. There's still a lot of HTML crap on some of the early pages that was needed to support the older browsers. The new pages have moved to CSS, but enough technical crap.
The early pages mostly just had their links repaired. Some of the sites either disappeared or moved. Most of the navigation buttons were removed because they made moving pages around too complicated. Now everything is accessed through the first index page. There were a few of the early pages that were completely removed.
The Time Killers page was added.
There's plans to do a lot of updates -- since I'm not working now I've got time. I plan on doing some pages organized around subjects that I'll use for my own reference. It will give a little more info that just using bookmarks.
Added the Reference page, updated the main page, added a new counter at the entry point that is before the main page. The Ref page will be constanly updated as I find helpful links.
I'm giving up on trying to get the pages to display properly on Netscape 4. There are too many work-arounds needed, and I end up having to compromise the way the site should look. I haven't installed NS6 yet, but I think it will like fine there because NS6 follows the specs more closely. Some of the weird spacings on the Reference Page (using NS4) are there because of display problems with tables. To see this site the way it is intended, use IE5.5 or NS6.
Finally learned how to change the scroll bar color. Obnoxious, isn't it? It only works in IE, but that's all I've been bothering with lately. Changed the feedback (comments) page. No significant changes. The monkeys keep multiplying. I've been using it as a way to save interesting pages instead of using and losing bookmarks.
A fully new page: all new, all the time. This is a way to save me time because I like to check out the news in the morning. I start with Yahoo's summary, but find a lot of interesting stuff in their "most-frequent" areas. Haven't done the comics yet, but the basic ref. material is there.
The beginning of a major redesign. It seems that some people never find their way past the opening screen -- so I'll make it a little easier. This note is just a warning that some of the internal links might be broken while the changes are made so if you see any, please let me know.
I just noticed that IE6 sometimes displays text in tables centered instead of left justified. Fortunately there was an article that described the problem (maybe not a problem, just a different interpretation of the spec). Anyway, there was an easy solution, but it required changing a lot of pages. I guess I'm glad that I finally upgraded to IE6, or this site would still look kind of unintentially weird.
The fix is documented here, but it basically says to remove the URI portion of the doctype declaration. IE 6 reverts to what is commonly called "quirks" mode, and renders the table in a manner consistent with previous versions of IE.
So
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"
becomes
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
